Election Fraud Emergency Crowdfunding Campaign

December 9th, 2012

Hello everyone,

I come to you with an urgent request, and hope you can help.

As you are no doubt aware, the legal challenges against voter suppression and fraud during the 2011 federal election will finally have their day in Federal Court starting this coming Monday.

You’ll also recall that the Council has committed to covering the full legal costs of the eight applicants, who have stepped up to restore voters’ rights and the integrity of our democracy in the face of the Robocall Scandal.

With the start of the hearings only days away, we’re facing a massive $300,000 outstanding legal bill that must be paid, and which the applicants could never hope to pay themselves.

That’s where we come in.  We’ve just launched an emergency crowdfunding campaign with the goal of inspiring 12,000 people across Canada and around the world to chip in $25 each.  The first donations have already started coming, but we very much need your help now to spread the word.

Crowdfunding lives and breathes not simply on people chipping in, but in sharing it as broadly as possible with your friends, family and networks.  Collectively, we have thousands of people in our respective networks we can share this with, and in inspiring them to give and share further, the effect is exponential.  Supporting these eight applicants as they fight to defend Canada’s democracy from this reprehensible attack is something we must all rally behind.

You can check out our crowdfunding campaign here: https://fundrazr.com/campaigns/0OoK3.  It’s very easy to share this with your peers through Facebook. And here’s a sample tweet you can use if you’re on Twitter: URGENT! Help Canadians Take #Robocalls to Court http://fnd.us/c/0OoK3 #cdnpoli #Democracy247.  If you have a website, you can embed the campaign widget too!  The instructions for doing that can be found here:http://canadians.org/election/fundrazr-embed.html.

At the Nanaimo Chapter Caucus Day just weeks ago, I heard from many of you the desire for us to engage more deeply in social media.  This campaign is our latest effort towards that.

12,000 people in just a matter of days sounds daunting, but I’m confident that if we spread the word fast, far and wide, we’ll reach this lofty goal!

Thanks in advance for any help you can be here.
Let’s do this!
