Rally to Protect Water – November 7th at 6:00pm

November 6th, 2016

Water is Life. We must protect it from privatization and exploitation for profit.

In September, we gathered to support James Gordon’s motion for the City to take a stand against Nestle’s water-drawing in Aberfoyle in the upcoming EBR. Council decided to delay the decision and hold a Committee of the Whole special council meeting on water on Nov. 7th.

At this meeting, council will be hearing the voices of countless people in the community. Let’s support their voices even more by rallying outside City Hall and then packing council chambers again.

You are welcome to join us for a family-friendly gathering to honour and protect the water. Right now, our watershed is under siege by Nestle, who have permission from the provincial government to draw 4.7 million litres of water per day in the areas surrounding Guelph.

Please join us at City Hall for family friendly poems, songs, and speeches from local artists and change makers.
Please stay afterwards as we parade into City Hall to sit in council and show our support for the motion.

We, as concerned citizens of Guelph and self-appointed stewards of our groundwater resources for future generations, are gathering to show support for this important motion and to the idea that water is not for corporate profiteering, but local preservation. #WaterForLifeNotForProfit is a short and passionate rally for water before the council meeting on water happens.
This is a family-friendly event.

Water is life.
